Indiana All-State Honor Choir 2027
January 15-16, 2027 – The Embassy Theatre & Purdue University Fort Wayne
Presented as a part of the IMEA Professional Development Conference, this ensemble is open to all high school-aged singers who participate regularly in a choral ensemble in their school or community led by a sponsoring choral director who is an active member of ACDA.
2027 Guest Conductor
Joshua Palkki (he/him) is Associate Professor of Music at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta where he leads the Chamber Choir and Glee Club. He is the co-author of Honoring Trans and Gender-Expansive Students in Music Education (Oxford University Press, 2021). Palkki holds degrees from Michigan State University (Ph.D. music education; choral conducting cognate), Northern Arizona University (M.M. choral conducting) where he studied under Dr. Edith Copley, and Ball State University (B.S. music education). Joshua has led (or will lead) honor choirs in California, Indiana, Nevada, Kansas, and Alabama. After making his Carnegie Hall debut in summer 2026, he will lead a tour to Ireland with KI Concerts in the summer of 2027. Prior to his appointment at Georgia Tech, Palkki served on the faculties of Arizona State University and California State University, Long Beach. At ASU he led the Barrett Choir and guided students in music education pedagogy, choral pedagogy, music teacher education, and choral conducting. At CSULB, Dr. Palkki taught courses in music education, interfaced with the College of Education, and led the University Choir. Under his leadership, that ensemble was selected to perform at the 2019 California Choral Directors Association (CCDA) State Conference. Joshua’s writing appears in several choral and music education publications including Choral Journal,Journal of Music Teacher Education, and Journal of Research in Music Education, Engaging Musical Practices: A Sourcebook for Middle School General Music (2nd edition), Routledge Companion of Jazz and Gender, and Oxford Handbook of Feminism in Music Education, and Oxford Handbook of Queer and Gender Studies in Music Education.
